May was a quiet month, but unlike most photographers, I’m extremely grateful for quiet periods in my business. Even as things seem slow, there is plenty going on: projects are developing, bookings are happening, and ideas are simmering. One of my favorite things to do is to connect with people + potential clients, and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the PR side of things and handing out my fun new business cards, which you can see in this recent post. Ask me for one and I might give you three of them – that’s how fun they are! Besides schmoozing, a couple of other events kept me busy in May:
1) ARC Mother’s Day Essay Contest. I was thrilled to give away a full Family Portrait Session to a wonderful organization in my community called Art of Raising Children. ‘ARC’ runs workshops, a farmer’s market and various other activities to benefit the families of Nuns’ Island. They are a non-profit organization run by amazing volunteers. My portrait session was the top prize for this year’s Mother’s Day Essay Contest, and I was extremely honoured to be asked to participate. Look for the results of this photo session in a future blogpost!
2) One week of rest, relaxation + carpe diem’ing’ in beautiful Victoria, BC with my parents. I’m so thankful to have spent this time hanging out with them, just enjoying each other’s company. They think I spoiled them by going out there to meet them, but I am the one who’s been spoiled all my life by their love for me + each other. Feeling rather lucky to have these two as parents:
Have a great week + do some carpe diem'ing' with your loved ones if you can!
