I believe in school pictures for many reasons. For starters, they are a wonderful way to document a child’s growth year after year, and the group picture of the entire class is a must-have item. School photos are also an age-old tradition; they are a part of the whole childhood experience and hopefully always will be. The problem is that these photos with the bizarre backgrounds are often the only professional photos we will have of our children during any given year. Rarely are they a true depiction of our child’s personality. And although they are fun to have, the prints we receive at the end of the process are not usually what can be considered ‘wall-art’ material. Au contraire. Enter the portrait photographer.
She will help you with clothing questions. She will suggest some great locations. She will charm your child and provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere for the session, and your kid may even say she's 'cool' when it's all over.
Most importantly, she will capture the essence of your beautiful and unique child.
Don't ditch the traditional school-issued photos just yet. They still have their value + their place. But... if you would like to complement those traditional photos with something a little more personal, then consider hiring a professional photographer. You will end up with beautiful images of your child that depict his true personality. Granny will be pleased as well. Who knows, she may even ask for a framed enlargement for over her fireplace.
